Doxycyclines are used in many of the world’s most advanced treatments for acne, and their efficacy has been well documented.
But now a new study finds that it can also cause serious hair loss.
According to the study, published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, a number of patients in two countries experienced significant hair loss after receiving a dose of the drug in dosages of 0.5mg and 1mg, and that the hair loss was accompanied by signs of inflammation, which led some researchers to call the drug “a cancer drug.”
The study, led by Dr. David A. Zimerman, professor of dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, looked at a number the clinical side effects of the medications.
In one case, patients reported that their hair was falling out due to the side effects, but not all of the side effect was due to their treatment.
In another case, the researchers found that some of the hair was growing back.
In addition, patients experienced a worsening of their skin’s natural defenses, such as its ability to repair itself, and the skin’s ability to fight infection.
In one case where a patient experienced hair loss, the patients also experienced significant improvement in their overall health.
Zimberman believes that the treatment is likely to be safe, and does not suggest that people stop taking the drugs.
Zimberman told ABC News that although the side-effects of the drugs are not well understood, he believes that “it’s possible that the patients had a severe case of acne and a high dose of doxycycline could have contributed to their hair loss.”
“I would suggest, however, that you definitely seek treatment for your acne, or any other acne-related symptoms and consult a dermatologist if you experience hair loss,” Zimborm said.
He continued, “If you do not want to take doxycyline and you are experiencing any other side effects and you would like to take this drug, it is probably a good idea to try and do your own research before deciding to do it.”
There are many more possible side effects to doxycine, but they have not been well studied in the literature, and they could potentially affect your health,” he added.
The drugs are sold as a prescription medicine in the U.S. and Canada.
The drug is available as a generic form, and it is not known if the drugs cause hair loss in people with other medical conditions.
Zimerman told CBS News that there are other drugs out there that have been studied that are similar to doxxylcyclines.
Ziman said that he and his colleagues believe that the drug is “much less toxic than doxycrine,” which has the ability to kill cancer cells.
The study also found that patients treated with doxycycle also reported other side-effectors that were not related to the medication.
For instance, they reported a higher incidence of fever, which can be caused by the body’s immune system responding to the drug.
However, these side effects did not correlate with the number of doxylcycles taken, Zimermier said.
He added that these side- effects “did not correlate very well with the patients’ actual acne severity.”
