WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump, Vice President Joe Biden and their families will be attending a symposium in Washington on hair, and their experiences with it, Wednesday.
Trump will meet with researchers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on Wednesday evening and will then meet with the American Association of Hairdressers and Allied Professional Associations (AAHBPA) in the White House, a source with knowledge of the meeting told Politico.
The AAHBPA will present a report about the importance of hair loss prevention, and the meeting will be followed by an address to the American Society for Hairdresser’s (ASHB) national conference, according to the source.
President Trump and Vice President Biden have been at the forefront of hair-loss prevention efforts for years, with their campaigns leading the way in several states and countries, including New York, where the two have held regular hair-health meetings since 2015.
The AAHB is a member of the Association of American Barbers, which is also a member agency of the National Association of Professional Hairdressists.
In March, the Trump administration announced that the Trump Institute of Hair Research (PIHR) would fund a pilot program in New York City that would help people who are losing hair lose it more effectively, while also helping to promote a new way to maintain hair growth.
Trump’s administration also announced that it is launching a national campaign to encourage women to have naturally-grown hair.
In February, the New York State Health Department approved a plan to conduct a pilot study to assess the effectiveness of a new hair-based product, the American Hair Loss Solutions Program (AHLSP), that is already available in a few other states.
The National Institute of Health and the National Institute on Aging are also sponsoring the hair-care conference.
In May, the administration announced it is establishing a national network of support groups for people living with hair loss and their hair loss support organizations.
A new website will be launched to help connect with those who have lost hair, while a national registry will also be created to track hair loss.
